Takakkaw Falls

Plummeting a staggering 373 metres from the edge of the Daly Glacier, Takakkaw Falls is one of the highest waterfalls in Canada and an absolutely awe-inspiring sight to behold. ‘Takakkaw’ is a Cree word meaning ‘it is wonderful’ — and the falls live up to that name completely. The sheer volume and force of the water, fed by summer glacial melt, creates a roar that can be heard from kilometres away. A short, easy walk from the parking area brings you directly to the base of the falls, where the mist and thunderous sound create a truly immersive natural experience. The surrounding Yoho Valley, cloaked in ancient forest and jagged peaks, adds to the grandeur of the moment.
