East Coulee School Museum

Tucked away in the dramatic Red Deer River Valley, the East Coulee School Museum is a beautifully preserved window into Alberta’s coal mining past. Built in 1930 during the height of the valley’s booming coal industry, the historic schoolhouse has been lovingly restored to its original glory. Exhibits bring to life the stories of immigrant families, hardworking miners, and the tight-knit communities that thrived in this remote Badlands setting. Interactive displays make it engaging for visitors of all ages, especially families with young children. The surrounding landscape of river valley and badlands scenery adds to the historic atmosphere. A hidden gem that reveals a fascinating and often overlooked chapter of Alberta’s history.
