Spanning the Red Deer River with a satisfying sway, the Rosedale Suspension Bridge is a thrilling and historic crossing that connects two sides of the Badlands valley. Originally built in the 1930s to allow coal miners access to the Star Mine on the far bank, the bridge now offers an adventurous and scenic walk for visitors of all ages. The views from the centre of the bridge — across the river, canyon walls, and hoodoo-dotted landscape — are superb. Across the bridge, a short trail leads to the atmospheric ruins of the old Star Mine operations, adding a layer of historical intrigue to the experience. Bouncing on the swaying bridge is a favourite delight for kids and kids at heart. A fun, free, and utterly unique stop in the heart of the Drumheller Badlands.
